Job Summary: Full-Time Plastic Surgery Coordinator at our Paramus and West Orange Office. Previous healthcare experience is required.

Schedule: Full time, 30+ hours per week. Monday: 11am-7pm, Tuesday: 11am-7pm, Wednesday: 8am-4pm, Thursday: 8am-4pm, Friday: 7am-3pm.

Plastic Surgery Coordinator:

  • Patient Coordination : Scheduling surgeries, consultations, and follow-up appointments for patients. This involves liaising with patients to ensure they understand pre-operative instructions and have all necessary information for their procedure.
  • Preoperative Preparation : Assisting patients with pre-operative paperwork, obtaining medical histories, explaining administrative procedures, and providing instructions for pre-operative care. This may also include doing exam room medical intakes and scribing.
  • Administrative Duties : Managing patient records, maintaining electronic medical records (EMRs), billing, and insurance prior authorization processing. This may also involve handling phone calls, EMR task boxes, emails, and other forms of communication with patients and other medical professionals.
  • S urgical Assistance : Assisting the surgeon during procedures by preparing the examination room, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available. They may also be responsible for aiding as needed during in-office procedures.
  • Postoperative Care : Providing post-operative instructions to patients, scheduling follow-up appointments, and assisting with post-operative wound care and dressing changes. They may also be responsible for monitoring patients for signs of complications and communicating with the surgeon as needed.
  • Medical Support : Taking patient vital signs, assisting with minor medical procedures such as wound care or suture removal.
  • Maintaining Sterility and Safety : Ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment in accordance with medical standards and protocols.
  • Coordination with Other Healthcare Professionals : Collaborating with other members of the healthcare team, such as nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgical technicians, to coordinate patient care and ensure that all aspects of the surgical process run smoothly.
  • Continuing Education: Staying informed about advancements in plastic surgery techniques, medical technologies, and regulations pertaining to patient care to provide the highest quality of service to patients and support to the surgeon.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years' experience in healthcare in an administrative support or medical assisting role or education substitution required. Experience in Plastic Surgery or Dermatology preferred.
  • Medical office certification or Certified Medical Assistant Preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance
