This position is key to ensuring efficient operation within the retail pharmacy while providing excellent customer service and support to the pharmacist. Job Responsibilities:Customer Interaction: Greet customers, receive prescription orders, and answer questions related to medications, refills, and over-the-counter products.Prescription Processing: Accurately input and process prescriptions, ensuring all information is correct and up-to-date. Verify patient details, medication dosage, and instructions.Medication Preparation: Assist the pharmacist in measuring, packaging, and labeling prescriptions for patients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety protocols.Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and check for expired medications. Assist with receiving and storing pharmaceutical inventory.Billing & Insurance: Process insurance claims, resolve payment issues, and handle customer co-pays. Ensure proper communication with insurance companies for pre-authorizations and coverage details.Customer Education: Inform customers about the availability of generic options, prescription refills, and any necessary instructions on medication use or potential side effects (under pharmacist supervision).Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to state and federal laws, including HIPAA privacy regulations and pharmacy-specific laws.Assist in Managing Workflow: Support pharmacists by organizing prescriptions, keeping the workspace tidy, and handling phone inquiries.OTC Product Sales: Assist customers with over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and other health-related products, offering guidance based on customer needs.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Certification: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred; required to be registered with the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy.Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately process prescriptions, handle sensitive customer data, and ensure correct medication labeling.Customer Service: Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and providing information in a helpful, respectful manner.Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to resolve insurance issues, prescription discrepancies, and address customer concerns effectively.Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift boxes, and perform repetitive tasks like labeling and stocking Environment: Busy work environment. May require flexibility in schedule, including evenings and weekends.
