Austin County is named after Stephen F. Austin, the “Father of Texas.” Bellville, the county

seat of this picturesque rural county, lies less than an hour west of Houston.

The office currently consists of the elected district attorney, three assistant district attorneys

and three paralegals. This posting is for a newly added prosecutor position.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This position is primarily responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor cases. The position also

prosecutes juvenile cases and assists with felony and JP traffic court duties.

The position performs misdemeanor intake and must be capable of handling misdemeanor

dockets, assisting with search warrants, drafting motions, handling pretrial hearings, and

sitting as lead trial counsel.

Training will be provided. Appellate and research work will be required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Doctor of Jurisprudence. Must be a member of Texas Bar or have 3rd Year Bar Card and be

eligible to be licensed within six months of hire date.

Must be a self-starter with excellent writing and research skills. Must be able to deal

courteously and effectively with the public.

from other members of TCDRS .
