Food Service Worker / Corrections

Apply Now JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals to Corrections inmates/detainees and to clean the kitchen and food preparation equipment. SALARY DETAILS: * Morning Shift: 5:00AM - 1:00PM (or similar hours) - $17.00 per hour * Afternoon/Evening Shift: 11:00AM - 7:00PM (or similar hours) - $20.00 - $21.50 per hour (depending on experience) RESPONSIBILITIES: * Prepares and cooks all meals for inmates on an assigned shift * Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position * Prepares drink mix containers and/or hot water containers for disbursement to housing units * Prepares sack meals for inmates leaving the facility * Reviews menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks * Loads and sets up delivery carts with appropriate number of meal and special diet trays for disbursement to housing units * Maintains and ensures all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils * Maintains standards of sanitation and cleanliness - Cleans and sanitizes food preparation area and all equipment * Cleans and maintains all work areas, including sweeping and mopping floors - Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate to the area of operation * Assists inmate workers in washing dinner trays and other kitchen equipment * Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies * Maintains knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and food safety procedures * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS: * General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent * One (1) to three (3) years' experience - minimum one (1) year of food service experience preferred * Vocational training in food services preferred * Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
