This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Description ::: {title=""} ::: {contenteditable="false"} The Emergency Medical Technician responds to both non-emergent and emergent requests for medical transportation, provides emergency and nonemergency care in the pre-hospital environment within the scope of practice, and provides safe and efficient transportation of the patient to appropriate facility or residence. Essential Job Functions: Responds promptly to requests for non-emergent and emergency calls as directed by the dispatcher in a timely and safe manner. Renders pre-hospital care at EMT level, within scope of practice. Performs complete and accurate BLS patient assessments. Performs all BLS skills proficiently. Has a pleasant and professional manner with all patients and their families. Adheres to state, federal, and region IV BLS treatment protocols. Follows state laws regarding emergency vehicle operation. Ensures vehicle and equipment are ready for response at all times. Knows location and proper use of all equipment and radios. Restocks vehicle and equipment after each run. Participates in cycle of checking and remove/replace outdated supplies and medications. Vehicle and equipment checklist will be completed after every run. Maintains sufficient knowledge of area geography and traffic patterns. Completes documentation and records according to department policy. Complete run reports, billing paperwork, and shutdown sheets accurately and legibly. Obtains required paperwork from transferring institution or receiving hospital. Attends or reviews minutes from EMS meetings. Attends or completes annual education and safety programs. Attends or completes all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards. Gives accurate and concise radio reports. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function. Idaho EMT Certification. Must be able to work varying schedules and be on-call. Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position.
