Physician Assistant/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology Inpatient - Portland, ME

Summary
The Physician Assistant employed by Maine Medical Center's Division of Cardiology in the Department of Cardiac Services will provide cardiovascular and general medical care to patients admitted to the Cardiology Services under the care of a physician participating in the Divisions Physician Extender Program with a current signed plan of supervision document on file in the department. The services will be provided on a 7 X 24 basis.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education: Graduate of an American Medical Association approved primary care physician assistant education program. Maintain certification.
  • License/Certifications: Certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with staff physicians, nursing and allied health professionals, other hospital staff and patients. Act as liaison between medical and other staff.
  • Registration with the Maine State Board of Registration in Medicine.
  • Ability to perform routine technical skills including suturing, phlebotomy and arterial puncture for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
  • Ability to tailor diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to age specific standards for infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
