Core Purpose:
Our site in Billerica is seeking a/an Automation & Controls Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
Reporting to the Automation and Controls Engineering Team, the intern will collaborate with Engineers from Manufacturing and R&D to improve and troubleshoot equipment automation. Project difficulty will be determined by past experience and current business needs.
In this role, you will:
* Assist with troubleshooting production plant-floor equipment. Proper trouble shooting techniques will be introduced as specific problems occur.
* Participate in design reviews and offer feedback on new capital equipment. Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing where permissible.
* Program factory automation components such as Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interfaces, Servos, and field instrumentation.

* Passion for hands on work, desire to understand how things are made and how machines work.
* Analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
* Good interpersonal skills and clear and effective communication skills.
* Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
* Computer/Networking skills.

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
* Previous experience in cleanroom
* Previous experience with PLCs /motors/HMIs
* Previous experience with scripting
Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
* Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering working towards a BS or MS in Engineering with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
