Part Time Packaging Machine Operator - Weekend Day

Utz Quality Foods is looking to grow our loyal, career driven, and customer focused team and is currently recruiting for a Packaging Machine Operator to work from our manufacturing facility located in Wilkes-Barre, PA . This position will be a part of our NEW Weekend Day crew. The required schedule is Saturday-Sunday 6AM-6PM with opportunity to flex up to 40 hours Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares packing machine for production and makes adjustments as necessary for schedule.
• Loads rolls of film on skid for production run and puts away at end of shift.
• Lifts film rolls (up to 60 pounds) on to packing machine.
• Lifts formers (up to 40 pounds) on and off machine at shoulder height.
• Uses printers to place appropriate codes and prices on bags, labels, and cases.
• Selects correct program for Yamato scale and TBA bag maker for scheduled SKUs.
• Programs, troubleshoots, and makes adjustments on scale and bag maker to ensure consistent feed.
• Continuously monitors package for the following hourly: correct item weight, proper seal of package, bag integrity, proper code date and correct price. Records film usage data and calculates film waste percentage.
• Completes all manufacturing paperwork and date entry in an efficient and accurate manner.
• Operates shaker system to ensure product delivery to correct machine.
• Prepares and operates packaging machines and equipment including printers, labelers, and conveyors, etc.
• Uses Lock Out Tag Out as required to ensure safe operations at all times.
• Must be able to obtain tow motor operator's license.
• Requires working proactively in a cross-functional team with diverse groups of people.
• Participates in all sanitation activities in order to maintain, clean and safeguard equipment and facilities used for the packaging and processing of food products.
  
  • This includes but is not limited to the use of mild to moderate chemicals and spray cleaners, compressed air tools and cloths to hand-wipe equipment.

Requirements:

• Requires basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Requires knowledge of all packaging machine equipment and machines used in the Packaging Department.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a tow motor operator's license.
• Able to lift a minimum 80 lbs.
• Basic computer skills to enter component usage.
• Requires team skills when working and communicating with others
