Successful candidates will have a desire to engage a diverse student population in various levels of millwright/maintenance studies. Lab assistant duties include running and monitoring the millwright/machine tool/and welding lab and assisting students in any task/machine usage. Must be able to work independently, show good judgment, and have the desire to engage a student population in various levels of welding principles and techniques. Successful candidates will have a flexible schedule for teaching assignments. Instruction topics include but are not limited to:<ul> <li>Print Reading</li> <li>Measurements</li> <li>Threads, Fasteners and Tooling</li> <li>Grinding</li> <li>Drilling and Work Holding</li> <li>Milling</li> <li>Lathes</li></ul></p> <strong>Reporting Relationship:</strong> <p>Direct reporting relationship to the Manager, Workforce and Community Partnerships - Workforce Trades. Supports the Executive Director, Workforce Development and Community Education, and team with carrying out the mission of the college and department.</p> <strong>Essential Responsibilities:</strong> <p> <ul> <li>Understand instructional activities supporting curriculum. </li> <li>Use appropriate assessment tools to ensure learning. </li> <li>Effective communication with students to help them achieve their educational goals.</li> <li>Opening and closing the welding lab in a safe and secure manner.</li> <li>Conducting classes with little or no direct supervision.</li> <li>Providing student updates when requested.</li> <p></p></ul> <br /></p> <strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong> <p> <ol> <li>Experience with machining / Computer Numerical Controls (CNC) operations.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.</li> <li>Instructional/Training experience.</li> <p></p></ol>Must be proficient in machining.
