The Technical Trainer, under the direction of the training manager, is responsible for technical development of all AUI employees. As the Technical Trainer, you are responsible for training the workforce according to AUI apprenticeship & training standards. This includes simulated on-the job, classroom, & on-the-job training. This also includes reviews and evaluations with apprentices on their training progress, to ensure that the standard is being maintained.
Responsibilities:
Conduct technical training in classroom and shop/yard with occasional on the job training
Contributes to development of training manuals & programs
Trains to the standards of AUI training programs
Obtains equipment and materials for training
Maintain training equipment & supplies
Build training yard to suit the current training
Collaborate with departments to identify training needs
Delivers portions of new hire orientation
Train the trainer role for any technical training
Delivers training records to training program coordinator
Teaches & evaluates apprentice critical tasks
Manages apprentice skill assessment placement testing
Responsible for Safety, Quality, & Efficiency of employees being trained
Qualifications:
5+ years of utility experience
Strong electrical theory knowledge
Analytical & Presentation skills
High school diploma or equivalent
Passion to help others gain knowledge
Implement diagrams, models, & examples
Must have strong attention to detail
Computer skills: file structure, word, powerpoint, research
Previous experience training, instructing, demonstrating.
Must be able to climb, operate equipment, lift up to 50lbs
Must have clear knowledge and proficient use of utility tools
Adaptable – adapt schedule to accommodate apprentice training schedule at times.
