Job Summary
This position oversees and manages the daily operations and fiscal affairs of the School of Accountancy (SoA). This includes monitoring the departmental budget, awarding of student scholarships in the Go System, and coordinating student, professional, and recruiting events, such as Meet the Firms, Advisory Board meetings, student club meetings and events, high school and transfer student recruiting events, and other special events. The position identifies issues in operational processes and ensures they are resolved. The position assists with the maintenance of the SoA's social media pages and provides basic administrative support to the Director of the SoA, the Director of the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPA), and the School's faculty.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate SoA events such as Meet the Firms, Advisory Board meetings, student club meetings and events, high school and transfer student recruiting events, and other SoA events.
  • Assist the Director of the SoA and the MPA Director with student recruitment, development and circulation of marketing materials, exit interviews and assessment, and enrollment and scheduling of student classes.
  • Assist with the development and posting of content for the SoA's social media outlets and monitoring posts on those outlets.
  • Maintain SoA budgets and spending requests for both university and Foundation funds, preparation and submission of various forms required for payment of expenses and faculty reimbursements, maintains inventory of equipment, and coordinates annual property audits. Maintains and reconciles all school budgets in a timely manner and maintains internal budget documents on a real-time basis.
  • Enter course schedules and textbook orders and perform course prerequisite checks. Assist with annual property audits. Award accounting scholarships in the Go System. Manage Graduate Assistant work schedule and assignments.
  • Acts as academic support for the SoA including, but not limited to, corresponding with prospective students, preparing and sending necessary student forms, maintaining appropriate student files, and working with faculty, staff, students, and the university community. Manage SoA calls, emails, mail distribution, and office visitors. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, and two (2) years of experience related to above-described duties.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills. Familiarity with relevant technology, software, and applications - including Microsoft office suite (especially Word and Excel) and 360 tools.
  • Proficiency with office management technology, software, and applications.
  • Effective written communications skills, including the ability to write routine reports.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • A willingness to take initiative, to be adaptable to changes, and be a creative problem-solver.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience in the following areas are desired:
  • Accounting and budgeting in a complex organization.
  • Managing and monitoring social media posts of an organization.
  • Working with varied forms of software and technology such as Excel, PeopleSoft and Ad Astra.
