Job Title: Occupational Therapist (OT)- Part Time
Location: 3935 Sunnyside Drive Harrisonburg VA 22801
Hours: Part Time, Monday-Friday. Rotating weekends. OTs can work 40-60 hours a pay period (flexible scheduling!). Hours are fluid depending depending upon caseload. Start/end shift times are flexible.
Position Overview & General Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate the development and treatment of injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Assist patients in developing, recovering, improving, and maintaining the skills needed for daily living and work. Aquatics interest/experience is a plus!

  • Address patient aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being, and life quality.
  • Select and adapt the appropriate per-case occupational therapy treatment model, method, and approach to direct the process of interventions.
  • Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).
  • Teach patients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components.
  • Assess patients' homes and other environments and advise on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use.
  • Guide and educate family members and caregivers.
  • Observe, note, and report on the progress of long- and short-term treatment goals.
  • Collect data, and document processes followed.
  • Documents patient care services according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures.
  • Develops a plan for patients following completion of their Plan of Treatment with appropriate in-home care services.
  • Leads by example and exhibits professionalism at all times.
  • Holds themselves accountable and encourage collaboration and flexibility within the department and interdepartmental teamwork for positive outcomes.

Qualifications :
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program
  • Experience: 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Occupational Therapist state license; CPR certification

Physical & Environmental Considerations
  • Normal lighting levels, temperature ranges, air quality, ventilation and noise levels.
  • Physical stamina to lift, transfer and assist patients through physical activities.
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50lbs. unassisted, including assisting patients when needed.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the phone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Contact with blood, body fluids and other infectious drainage. Minimal hazards if required Universal Precautions are followed
