Nature and Scope of Job :
To provide appealing and nutritional fresh fruits and vegetables to participants of the Sweetwater County School District Number One Food Service Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program (FFVP) and assist with all clean-up.
Job Functions:
Essential Functions:
1. Assists with preparation, cleaning, cutting, and portioning of fresh produce for the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program (FFVP) as called for by the weekly menu.
2. Maintains all cold prepared food at proper temperatures.
3. Reviews production/information sheets to determine amount of food to be prepared for each school.
4. Procures food items from refrigerator or storage areas.
5. Labels, dates, and stores foods in keeping with department standards.
6. Operates, safely and accurately, a variety of commercial food service equipment including: knives, slicer, thermometers, measuring utensils, scales, chopper.
7. Maintain kitchen in a clean and sanitary condition at all times.
8. Assumes responsibility for checking all equipment and ensuring that it's in safe working condition.
9. Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, parents, and all district personnel at all times.
10. Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students and staff.
11. Maintains positive communication skills in working with the food service team, students, district staff, parents and public at all times.
Other Functions:
1. Adapts to specific or new working situations as needed.
2. Seeks appropriate additional tasks when assigned work is completed.
3. Performs any other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills and Mental Ability:
Ability to follow and successfully complete both written and oral directions.
Knowledge of organization skills.
Ability to think clearly and calculate accurately.
Possess sound emotional judgement. Ability to work with people of various personality types.
Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience or Formal Training):
Maintain a Class "C" driver's license.
Meet current district vehicle insurance qualifications for driving coverage
Current requirement is less than 3 traffic violations within the last 3 years
High school education or equivalent.
Previous institutional food service experience helpful, but not necessary.

Non-air conditioned kitchen.
Occasional exposure to weather extremes.
