Job Summary
The Perioperative Registered Nurse provides direct care to patients, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with standards of care and policies. Assumes leadership responsibilities, is prudent in decision-making, and autonomously provides pre-, intra-, and post-operative care.
- Interviews patients and documents medical history and care details
- Uses critical thinking and problem-solving skills to administer patient care and medication, and evaluates the outcomes of care
- Serves as a preceptor for new employees, students or peers and evaluates their performance in interpersonal interactions and clinical and technical skills
- Provides feedback to help resolve problems and complaints
- Follows standards related to time management, hospital procedures, and electronic documentation
- Takes on-call shifts as required
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Florida
- One year of recent perioperative experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Intermediate computer proficiency in Office suite programs, Windows, and electronic medical records
