Job Description

Mobile Unit Driver

Performs the driving, general maintenance, cleaning, and stocking of the Mobile Unit. These duties include but are not limited to daily checking and going through the maintenance list of the Mobile Unit, cleaning the floor, counters, and surfaces, making sure the appropriate maintenance is done taking the Mobile Unit to the assigned place when needed, making sure all the supplies needed are in stock. Make calls to the locations the Mobile unit will visit in the coming week. Will do outreach activities to further the growth of the Migrant Program in the SALUD service area.

The Mobile Unit Driver approaches his/her tasks in a fashion that supports patients and their families in self–management, self-efficacy, and behavioral change.

Supervision Received:

Works under the supervision of the Migrant Health Director

Supervision Exercised:

Supervises every person who drives the Mobile Unit

Specific Duties:

Inspects the Mobile Unit every time it will be used using the “Mobile Unit Inspection Report” making sure the vehicle is in good condition to be used
In case maintenance of the engine, chassis, or airstream is needed, schedule the repair through the Migrant Health Director
Keeps the Mobile Unit clean (including sweeping and mopping of the floors, cleaning of counters and other surfaces of the Mobile Unit)
Drives the Mobile Unit from the assigned parking space to the scheduled location within the migrant program activities
Makes sure all the supplies needed for the Mobile Unit activities are stocked and coordinates the stocking of those supplies through the Migrant Health Medical Assistant as well as inventory in the storage room
Performs other activities including office duties as assigned by the Migrant Health Director
Do outreach activities in coordination with the Migrant Health Program Assistant
Works in conjunction with other Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health providers and all other staff to ensure that the patients obtain the highest standard of integrated healthcare
The Mobile Unit Driver acts as a patient advocate for our vulnerable population by ensuring that the patient is fully informed and comfortable with their visit to Salud
Will help in the Facilities department when needed
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Experience:

Experience driving and maintaining large vehicles

Licensure/Certification:

Current valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
Knowledge of vehicles maintenance, and experience driving large vehicles
Knowledge of Colorado’s driving laws. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
Skilled driver. Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
Must work well with all other patient care team members
Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with internal and external clients
Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate with patients
Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a requirement
