Medical Laboratory Tech (MLT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is searching for a talented Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist to serve St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, IL.

This role is responsible for performing routine tests in the medical laboratory while using biomedical instrumentation, microscopes, and computers to study samples obtained from patients, and provide data to physicians and health care providers for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

This position traditionally reports directly to the Laboratory Manager, and will be based in Effingham, IL.

Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician
Reports directly to Laboratory Manager
Medical Laboratory Scientist
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university (including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics),
Successful completion of a National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS),
accredited Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) program
Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT)
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and
Bachelor's degree with 2 years full time lab experience in an accredited lab.

Medical Laboratory Technician
Successful completion of a (NAACLS) accredited medical laboratory technician program,
Associate's degree and at least 60 academic credit hours including 6 hours chemistry and 6 hours biology and successful completion of a 50 week US military medical laboratory training course, OR
Associates degree and at least 60 academic credit hours including 6 hours chemistry and 6 hours biology and 3 years full time lab experience in an accredited laboratory within the last 10 years
Medical Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician or eligibility for certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as: - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) –
National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) –
American Medical Technologies (AMT) –
Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW) –
or other laboratory certifying agency is required
~ Experience in an accredited lab is preferred.
