Summary
Performs cashier, receptionist, and registration duties at the Sullivan Community Center emphasizing excellence in customer service. Ensures that proper cash handling procedures and internal control processes are followed. Hours include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications
Must be honest, have regular attendance, and have the ability to work in cooperation with others without causing disruption. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people in an organizational context. Must have basic computers skills including the use of Word and Excel. Must have a CPR/AED certification or be willing to complete CPR/AED training within the first 60 days of employment.

Essential Job Functions
Performs front desk services and operations at the Sullivan Community Center providing excellent customer service. This includes the following:
  • Interacts with customers to answer questions; resolve problems, dispense key fobs; accept registrations, make facility reservations; check-out lockers and equipment, and assist with class registrations.
  • Effectively communicates with customers in person and on the phone to market and promote Park District programs and services.
  • May open and/or close the Sullivan Community Center.
  • Performs cash handling in accordance with District cash handling policies.
    • Operates a cash register.
    • Compiles daily cash balance.
  • Performs a variety of clerical functions such as filing, issuing key fobs, typing documents for various center employees, and taking phone messages. May be scheduled during registration peak demand.
  • Resolves customer concerns.
  • Resolves incidents and program issues as they occur.
  • Processes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Contacts appropriate personnel for emergencies.
  • Monitors facility by periodic building walk-throughs.
  • General awareness of, and responsiveness to, facility and program needs at all times.
  • When needed, takes responsibility for facility problems, related incidents and their solutions.
  • Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment.

    • Facility rental - discount of 50% (reservation cannot be made more than 30 days prior to the rental date and the employee is responsible for the rental set-up and clean-up)
    Some part-time positions may include benefits at a future date such as paid time off, pension and health insurance if the employee's annual hours meet a 1,000 hour or 1,560 hour requirement.
