The OpportunityManufacturing Engineering TechnicianAs our Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you will support the Production and QC Test teams with fixtures, work-instructions, and general support of the production process to efficiently move product through the process with a hands-on approach. End products are used in harsh environments for data transmission so attention to detail is vitally important.You will need to support and give guidance to a growing staff of assembly technicians. A well-qualified applicant will possess hands-on skills requiring problem solving and decision-making ability. The capability to maintain quality protocols while enhancing operational efficiencies is required. Previous experience working within an ESD sensitive environment is beneficial. Knowledge in the use of and understanding of mechanical drawings and mechanical measuring devices is valuable.Location: Portland, ORYour Challenge:Work with the Production Supervisor and the Manufacturing Engineer to assess process or fixture improvementsImplement and upgrade tools and fixtures for production and testBuild or assemble fixtures that will be used in production or testCreate or update work instructions for key processes to support the assemblers and techniciansUse MES and Agile systems to support product changes and new product introduction into the factorySupport LEAN initiatives to continually improve the production process.Analyze quality issues that arise to determine root cause.Responsible for archiving and maintenance of production build and quality records for products producedPerform calibration tasks for key process tools to ensure consistent and reliable production.Minor BOM maintenance and modification as needed to support the factoryWork closely and cooperatively with factory team, including development engineering, on problem identification and resolutionMaintain existing high standards of assembly and quality on the production floorAbility to read and interpret assembly drawings, piece part drawings, and wiring diagramsProvide basic technical support to floor personnel on problem identification and resolution, bringing Manufacturing Engineer or development engineering staff into the discussion as needed for guidance and resolutionProvide interface to QC staff regarding material non-conformance issuesSupport NPI/Prototype builds and activities under the direction of development engineeringPerformance requires physical attendanceOther duties as assignedYour Expertise:Five+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment that focuses on mechanical assembly and wiring of custom productsExperience with low-to-medium volume high mix production is requiredFive+ years experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician in support of electro-mechanical production environmentCreative problem solver ability to find creative solutions with a can-do attitude, in a fast-paced environmentSelf-starter skills to organize, communicate and execute day to day activities, and to manage all deadlinesKnowledge of fastener types, press-in hardware, adhesives and assembly methodsExperience with cable harnesses, wiring and cable managementDemonstrated ability to multi-task in a small team environmentComputer skills appropriate for a manufacturing environmentExperience with MES/ERP/MRP systems is a plusHands on soldering skills are a plusAttention to detail, quality orientation and accuracy a mustAble to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing within the manufacturing environment and with key contacts in other departmentsUse of calipers, Micrometers and height gaugesWhat we offer:Curtiss-Wright is proud to offer our employees a comprehensive total rewards package:Competitive PayHealth and wellness benefits, including medical, dental, life insurance and moreSavings opportunities for retirement, with an opportunity to become a shareholderLearning and development opportunities Recognition for your contributionsAbout Us:Pacific Star Communications, a Curtiss-Wright company, designs, manufactures, and integrates hardware and software systems that enable rapid deployment of enterprise-class communications anywhere in the world.
