Description
Position Summary: The Manufacturing Automation Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of automation technologies throughout the manufacturing process. This role involves analyzing current manufacturing practices, identifying opportunities for automation, and leading projects to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. The Manufacturing Automation Manager works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automated systems and processes. This role is essential in supporting the US Warfighter and the disabled community in El Paso. In some cases, automation will assist and help create jobs for people with disabilities in El Paso. Key Responsibilities:
  • Automation Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive automation strategy for the manufacturing process.
    • Identify areas within the manufacturing process that can benefit from automation.
    • Evaluate and select appropriate automation technologies and solutions.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead automation projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and within budget.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for automation projects.
  • System Integration:
    • Oversee the integration of automated systems into existing manufacturing processes.
    • Ensure compatibility and interoperability between new automation technologies and current systems.
    • Work with IT and engineering teams to ensure proper installation, configuration, and maintenance of automation systems.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
    • Implement automation solutions to enhance process efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of automated systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of automation engineers and technicians.
    • Provide training and support to team members on automation technologies and best practices.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure that all automation systems and processes comply with industry standards and regulations.
    • Implement safety protocols and procedures for automated equipment and systems.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance and safety standards.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and present reports on automation project status, performance metrics, and outcomes.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of automation systems, processes, and procedures.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on automation initiatives and achievements.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Automation, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing automation, with a minimum of [X] years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of automation technologies, robotics, and control systems.
  • Experience with project management and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to manufacturing automation.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in automation and manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or similar.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to travel as required to support automation projects and initiatives.
