Position Title: Safety Engineer

 

Job Brief:

We at Danieli are “One Stop Shop Solution” for all steel major players around the world. Danieli is looking for a Safety Engineer who is the most important part of all work within a Thin Slab Caster-Mold & Segment Workshop; therefore, the Safety Engineer is responsible for initiating, guiding, and supporting a workplace safety and environmental impact policies, practices, procedures and standards at all time. The Health & Safety Engineer works in staff position within the organization of the Thin Slab Caster-Mold Segment Workshop, reporting directly to the manager thereof. The Health & Safety Engineer coordinates with the Safety Manager of the organization in which the Thin Slab Caster-Mold Segment Workshop is located.

Tasks and Day-to-Day Activities in the role :

  • The Health & Safety Engineer performs a wide range of tasks to ensure machinery and equipment are properly maintained. Some of their main tasks include:
    • Design, development and maintenance of the Safety Management System relating to the workshop and related processes
    • Application of the provisions of current legislation on Health and Safety at Work, Risk Prevention of Major Accidents and Fire Prevention, in accordance with company provisions
    • Development, to the extent of its competence, of preventative and protective measures and control systems for such measures
    • Identification of risk factors and measures for the safety and healthiness of working environments
    • Propose new technical solutions in accordance with updates to corporate and regulatory standards applicable in all countries
    • Editing of technical documentation for the management of the Security System (Standard Operating procedures, Risk Assessment, Emergency Plans, Fire Risk)
    • Investigate the causes of industrial accidents to prevent further accidents
    • Promote workplace and product safety by identifying and monitoring potential dangers to people or things
    • Standardize consolidated solutions by making them known and verifying their application
    • Proposal and implementation of worker information and training programs
    • Be an active and proactive part of the Danieli technical office in order to integrate the safety of the machine in the design phase following the operational experience in the workshop

Skills and Must Have's:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, such as mechanical, industrial, or systems engineering, or in environmental health and safety
  • At least (2+) years of related experience in role
  • Applications within minimal experience gained in the regulatory world will also be considered, for example in technical consultancy firms or collaboration with technicians in the metalworking sector (knowledge of machines/plants in the steel industry
  • Willing to initially travel in the first year; 70% domestically for training and customer sites
