Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Classification: District-wide support - salaried position
Reports to: Director of Facilities
Work Schedule: Year-round- Works occasionally modified schedules, including day, evening and/or weekend hours to meet district needs
General Description:
Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and repairs of buildings, classrooms, offices, food service areas, gymnasiums, restrooms, grounds, and support infrastructure. Addresses day-to-day requests from teachers and staff related to the physical furnishings, equipment, materials, and supplies of each building.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. Prior facility maintenance experience preferred. Supervisory experience a plus.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Maintains safety and code requirements of the State, local and Board of Education guidelines.?
  • Assists the facilities team in providing comprehensive facilities support to all staff.
  • Oversees and/or coordinates some projects with contractors and work teams.
  • Makes minor repairs to buildings, infrastructure, and equipment as required, utilizing basic skills and knowledge in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and painting work.
  • Performs and/or coordinates emergency repairs as needed.?
  • Operates hand and power maintenance tools & equipment.
  • Works occasionally modified schedules, including day, evening and/or weekend hours if needed.
  • Conducts routine inspections of premises and equipment and performs preventative maintenance.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to a variety of work demands and repetitive or mundane duties.
  • Assists with support tasks related to transportation assets, activities, and equipment as needed.
School Activities:
  • The Maintenance Technician is required to attend and/or participate in such other related activities as required by the Director of Facilities and/or Administration such as: special projects, staff meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, commencement exercises, etc.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential.
  • Excellent communication and inter-person (soft) skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new skill sets.
  • Prior work experience in a school environment a plus.
  • Willingness to become familiar with each building's systems, assets, layout, and features through an ongoing guided and self-paced focus and study.? ?
  • Ability to stay self-motivated and productive with minimal supervision.
  • Able to follow written or verbal instructions accurately and ask questions when needed.
  • Flexibility that allows for occasional before and after-hours support in the event of urgent, unforeseen, or emergency situations that affect the functionality and well-being of our schools.
  • Able to perform regular bending, lifting, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs/ladders.
  • Lifts and carries equipment and supplies as related to performance responsibilities up to 75 lbs.

Salary Description
$45,000 - $50,000 Annually
