The primary function of this position is to perform scheduled preventative maintenance work events (PMs) for the Maintenance and Facilities departments at both the Devens and North Andover, Johnson Matthey Pharma Services (JMPS) facilities. This work will be performed in accordance to JMPS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to GMP guidelines while documenting this work in an asset management database.

Other duties will include assisting with repairing, maintaining, adjusting, calibrating and installing equipment to ensure proper operations, and facility upkeep. Also required are drafting and revising SOPs and work instructions that pertain to the department.

Your responsibilities:

Perform required PMs in a timely manner to ensure that JMPS is compliant with its SOPs and cGMP guidelines.
Minimize process downtime due to equipment or parts failures by evaluating the overall state of equipment, make recommendations for repairs or replacement.
Provide input for updating the critical spare parts data base.
Interact with other departments to schedule work that is to be performed in their areas.
Ensure all job related training (SOPs, Safety, corporate compliance) are completed in a timely manner.
Assist with maintaining facility appearance.
Assist with performing calibration and validation activities as directed.
Supervise outside contractors performing work at the JMPS facilities.
Issue work permits for hot work/right to work and perform Lock Out Tag Out activities on equipment as needed.
Source and purchase parts for the group and maintain spare parts inventory
May perform other related duties as required.

Requirements for the role:

Essential

High school diploma or equivalent with extensive on-the-job training related to diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of production and support equipment typical in the chemical processing industry. Technician certification or an associate’s degree in a technical field are desired.
A minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience
Experience in a GMP environment preferred.
Formal project management training preferred
Experience working in an environment utilizing continuous improvement tools (root cause analysis, six sigma)
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Able to physically enter confined spaces, climb ladders and work from heights
Able to wear various types of respirators, protective clothing and hearing protection.
Advanced computer knowledge including databases, cad systems, process control, reporting, and project management.
