Summary Manages and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing equipment by inspecting facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance. Preparing weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work. Recruiting, supervising and training maintenance technicians. Undertake administrative tasks such as, reporting, and budgeting. The goal is to ensure company facilities are well-cared for and adequate to support the company's business operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs workers engaged in electrical maintenance.
  • Requests tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards
  • Studies production schedules and needs to estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Performs activities of workers supervised
  • Performs other duties, as needed
  • Manage, supervise and execute maintenance as well as support activities 24/7 by assisting company site.
  • Assist with site environmental conformance as well as hazardous material programs.
  • Ensure to maintain adequate inventories of tools, supplies and parts to accurately repair all equipment.
  • Maintain systems to supervise service requests promptly complying with safety requirements.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance work according to Hazard Communications program prerequisites.
  • Ensure to keep cleanliness at shop and storage areas as well as well-stocked, organized following company color coded program.
  • Inspect regularly machinery with respect to safety issues inclusive but not restricted to ground and trip hazards, non-functioning lights, broken pieces along with exposed wiring.
  • Conduct proper follow-through on all maintenance issues.
  • Ensure to deal with resident maintenance issues in timely way working with maintenance staff.
  • Plan maintenance employees' schedules as per forecasted workloads.
  • Perform with maintenance employees along with other technical personnel to develop proactive and effective team working together to attain set objectives.
  • Ensures compliance to company safety and security standards, procedures and policies.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel wears and utilizes all safety equipment correctly as needed.
  • Conduct safety inspections as scheduled and complete accurately as required.
  • Establish priorities, goals and expectations to prepare action strategies and plans to accomplish same working with team.
  • Develops maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.

Manager Responsibilities

Directly Manages all maintenance employee(s). Carries out Managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, Budgeting, resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent: Degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in Business administration or facility management will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, motor controls, high and low voltage wiring and programmable logic controller
  • 24-hour emergency responder training and 8 hour yearly refresher training for emergency responder (HAZMAT)
  • Working knowledge of PSM program (Process Safety Management) and preventative maintenance program
  • Related experience in general maintenance, plumbing and grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and E.P.A. regulations and requirements
  • Experience in a USDA meat processing facility.
  • Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.)
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations Understanding of budgeting and performance management
  • Excellent planning and leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of operating a computer and computer software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and basic Excel. Ability to utilize ERP System to manage PM program and track inventory parts..
