Overview: This position is responsible for directing the safe and effective operation of Cedar Point's authentic coal fired steam locomotives. Will maintain a rolling stock and anticipate the need for material, making timely requisitions and overseeing the hiring, training and scheduling of firemen and engineers. This safety oriented leader will ensure guests have an excellent ride experience. Responsibilities: Completing and delegating the completion of daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections of railroad rolling stock, tracks and related equipment providing documentation as required Assist workers in diagnosis of equipment malfunctions based on observation and applying knowledge from past experiences Promoting a safe work environment by conducting safety trainings and meetings Keeps accurate records of employee issues such as workdays, vacations, sick days, counseling and disciplinary actions as well as perform other supervisory and all other duties assigned by their Superintendent Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Requires specialized knowledge of the construction, maintenance, repair and operations techniques related to historic steam locomotives and Antique Boiler License Low Pressure Boiler License preferred Proficient in basic computer programs such as Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word Ability to assist in keeping the Engine House within budget Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law
