Assessment Team Leader Los Alamos, NM / GEM

GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking an Assessment Team Leader to join our team that provides integral mission support to the DOE. The ideal candidate can function as a team leader and program manager to support activities and ensure a successful execution of the assessment. This position is short-term (anticipated ~2 months) and will serve N3B in Los Alamos, NM; teleworking may be permitted, but travelling to site as needed will be required.

About N3B: N3B manages the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Environmental Managements Los Alamos Field Office and leads efforts to clean up legacy waste at LANL and protect the environment.

+ Support, as a team leader, a Retrieval MSA.

  • Ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner.
  • Advise Facility Operations on the selection of other team members.
  • Ensure team member backgrounds demonstrate technical competence and experience in all subject areas and safety management programs within the scope of the review.
  • Ensure that the assessment team is technically competent to assess all functional areas and core requirements defined in the POA.
  • Responsible for team member selection, including a Senior Advisor, as deemed necessary.
  • Prepare an implementation plan (IP) with the team members and Senior Advisor in accordance with the scope (breadth and depth) defined in the POA.
  • Approve the assessment IP.
  • Execute the assessment in accordance with the IP.
  • Ensure procedural and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the preparation, approval, and submittal of the assessment final report. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of relevant experience; additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have technical familiarity with DOE Order 425.
  • Must have technical familiarity with the activities and functional areas being reviewed which include: Configuration Mgmt., Criticality Safety, Emergency Mgmt., Engineering, Environmental Compliance, Fire Protection, Occupational Safety & Industrial Hygiene, Maintenance, Management & ISMS, Operations (ConOps), Quality Assurance, Radiation Protection, Safety Basis & USQ Program, Training & Qualification, and Waste Management & Hazardous Materials.
  • Previous performance-based review experience or training.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills to permit smooth management of the assessment team.
  • Assessment experience or formal training.
  • Ability to commit the necessary time and effort to fully support the assessment schedule.
  • Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be able to obtain and maintain and government security clearance.
