Quality Assurance Inspector - Lead

Position Summary : The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for ensuring manufacturing processes and procedures are adhered to in order to ensure the quality of the products. The Quality Assurance Lead may visually inspect or manually test products or processes, before, during or after the manufacturing process. May also run and monitor inspection equipment, as well as record and analyze quality data. Quality Assurance Lead may perform their duties in a number of locations, such as workstations, assembly lines, laboratories, customer sites or at warehouses and material storage locations. They may have to stand for hours at a time, or perform their duties seated in a controlled environment. The Quality Assurance Lead may be required to work overtime during peak manufacturing periods or audits with short notice.

Essential Functions:

  1. Inspections - 40%
    1. Accept or reject work products by verifying the product or process meets the customer specifications and requirements. Keeps record of issues they find and sends defective products back to production line or suppliers for repair and review.
    2. Will have the responsibility to review specifications, standards and/or test plans, and make recommendations.
    3. Inspect product or process with specialized tools. This may include weighing or measuring finished products, visually inspecting workmanship and/or gauging product reliability.
    4. May be required to conduct controlled testing on products or processes to determine how the products or processes perform in a simulated environment.
  2. Improvement Recommendations -35%
    1. Review, implement and follow up on corrective actions derived from customer complains, customer returns, and/or non-conformances found and their root causes.
    2. Perform time studies and/or process evaluations for recommended improvements.
  3. Training and Supervising - 25%
    1. Trains and coaches team(s) in a specific job role to ensure work is performed as expected for safety, quality and production deadlines. This may require overnight work trips to any other TransPak facilities.
    1. May require technical expertise such as maintaining certifications or licenses in order to properly train team members in proper handling (forklift, driver, pallet jack, nail gun skills).
    2. Gives feedback about performance to job expectations to ensure respectful accountability. May manage time and attendance system and team member schedules for start/stop, meal and rest periods and time-off.


Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

Required

A.S. degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent experience in production, packing, TransPak operations, is desired.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in the English language. Bilingual is not required but desired, Spanish preferred.

Ability to attend/provide training and implement concepts learned during that training.

Desired
  • Certificate in quality control or specialized training within the industry.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
License (Drivers, Commercial) or Passport Requirements:

A valid Driver's license is required for site to site travel.

Working Conditions:
The majority of the work performed will be done on the production floor. This includes the above physical requirements as well as mental alertness for forklifts, pneumatic tools and other hazards.

This job requires travel. Travel sites may include: Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, Mexico, and Asia. Travel conditions may either be by vehicle or plane and may require overnight stays in hotels.
