Summary Perform administrative tasks under the direction of multiple physicians to keep the office running smoothly. Administrative duties may include, but are not limited to, answering phone calls, greeting patients, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, transcribing patient visits, calling patients with biopsy results, maintaining pathology log, maintaining MIPS logs related to the diagnosis of Melanoma and the Melanoma Recall System, sending certified letter
Job Responsibilities:
  • Intake for surgical patients and return patients
  • Prepare patients for physical exam/surgery
  • Preparing patients for skin cancer removal via Mohs surgery and reconstructive surgery
  • Assisting surgeons as first assistant with Mohs surgery and reconstructive surgery
  • Assists with other procedures and demonstrates current knowledge and skill in nursing practice to ensure safe and effective care for the patient population.
  • Responsible for patient education including handing out educational pamphlets, giving verbal instructions, explaining and recommending products, discussing medications and wound care and answering patient questions
  • Providing post-op care to return patients
  • Surgical instrument processing
  • Sterile tray prep, Nurse Triage, scribe when needed
  • Participate in quality and safety control and provides support services within the clinic when not providing patient care
  • Prepare for the day's activities by checking schedules and preparing rooms for patient use i.e. clean, organize and stock rooms with necessary equipment and supplies
  • Communicate effectively with patients and co-workers in-person and over the phone
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Must be able to work under time pressures in a busy clinic/office environment
  • Must be able to react quickly and immediately respond to urgency and emergencies
  • Must be able to reach for objects by extending arms and able to stay in one position for periods of time
  • Must maintain attention to detail over extended period of time
Qualifications:
  • 2 years prior experience in outpatient surgery clinic setting preferred
  • Demonstrated ability or experience in patient flow management and confidential management of patient health information
  • Ability to provide services to patients in a warm, professional manner
  • Dermatology experience a plus
  • Ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the dermatology field and a passion for building relationships with their patients
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with clarity both verbally and in writing
  • HIPAA & Provider Compliance (will train)
  • EMR documentation (will train)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to values and professionalism through appropriate conduct at all times
