Under general supervision, the technician is responsible for providing technical support under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The technicians duties are provided as part of the anticoagulation clinic team and involves interaction with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners and other health care providers. Office Location: 5701 Southeastern Avenue, Commerce, CA 90040 Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm PST, no weekend & no holidays; will need to travel 2-3 times per year to attend trainings or meetings at our Commerce, CA office location If you live within 5-6 hours driving distance to our Commerce, CA office, you'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optums commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer Works as a member of the Pharmacy Support Center by processing medication refill requests per protocol, facilitating non-protocol refill requests, obtaining prior authorizations and resolving other medication refill related issues or problems Documents pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record Participates in therapeutic drug conversion programs by conducting therapeutic drug conversions per protocol, documenting drug conversions in the electronic medical record, notifying providers of drug conversions and providing patient education regarding these changes Assists with data management and recording results for month-end reports Assists in Pharmacy Services wellness programs (i.e. anticoagulation clinic and disease management clinics) by: Retrieving pertinent patient information for new patient referrals or recent hospital/SNF discharge Contacting patients post hospitalization to perform medication reconciliation Performing patient Missed Appointment / No Show procedures Answering incoming phone calls and directing patient messages Maintains, stocks and cleans exam rooms Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications Participates in process improvement initiatives, site staff meetings and departmental meetings Uses, protects, and discloses Optum patients protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards Adheres to Universal Precautions and safety policies and procedures at all times Collaborating with other members of the health care team Youll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED (or higher) OR 1+ years of pharmacy technician experience Possess and maintain an active pharmacy technician license in the state of California 1+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician 1+ years of experience of medical and pharmacy terminology 1+ years of ability to demonstrate broad knowledge in medication therapeutic categories 1+ years of ability to identify generic name for brand name drugs and vice versa 1+ years of ability to demonstrate broad knowledge in understanding indication for medication Basic level of proficiency with Windows and MS applications (Word, Excel) Ability to type 40 wpm Ability to attend trainings/meetings 2-3 times per year at our 5701 Southeastern Avenue, Commerce, CA 90040 office location Preferred Qualifications: National Pharmacy Technician Certification 3+ years of experience working as a pharmacy technician 1+ years of experience in hospital, ambulatory care or other healthcare setting Experience in managed care setting Bilingual (Spanish/English) Soft Skills: Detail-oriented Attention to accuracy Excellent organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a relatively unsupervised environment with a high degree of accuracy California Residents Only:The hourly range for California residents is$16.54 to $32.55per hour.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
