Loan Documentation Specialist

Individual will be responsible for assisting with all facets of the Credit Administration function as it relates to loan package generation, review and reporting. Included within the scope of responsibility will be to assist in the preparation and review of loan packages, to assist with the review and reporting of HMDA data and to perform loan system maintenance as needed. Responsible for assisting with the maintenance of various loan rate screens and models utilized in the lending process. Provides guidance, coaching and training to lenders, when required, in an effort to encourage sound lending practices. General Qualifications Knowledge: A minimum of a two-year Associates degree with two to four years banking experience is required (or equivalent experience). A four year degree in a related field, with previous knowledge of consumer and commercial lending practices is highly preferred. Experience: A minimum of two to four years experience in a banking or financial institution with underwriting and/or loan package documentation experience, is preferred. Additional experience with lending compliance rules/regulations is highly preferred. Skills: Position requires ability to understand financial and other information required in a loan package request. Position requires ability to understand and communicate regulatory and compliance lending requirements as needed. Requires the ability to manage time, prioritize and organize tasks, and work within defined timeframes. Requires strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to work with various internal and external contacts along with good written and oral communication skills. Must be proficient with personal computer and knowledgeable of various software applications (Laser Pro, Decision Pro, Excel, Word). Scope of Decisions: Decisions are made using general guidance and company/departmental policies and procedures. Position requires sound judgment and ability to ascertain which decisions can be made independently versus those that may require management input and approval. Essential Functions Responsible for providing exemplary service quality to internal and external customers. Demonstrates teammanship by example. Provides positive morale in the work environment to encourage and build a united team. Assists Senior Loan Documentation Specialists with the preparation and review of Early Disclosure documents and Closing Package documents, modification and participation documents for consumer and commercial real estate loans using Laser Pro / Decision Pro software. Will learn to review title commitments prior to loan closings and work with attorneys and paralegals to ensure Bank is in correct lien position and to ensure Banks collateral is not at risk. Works closely with attorneys and paralegals to ensure closing documentation is accurate and HUD/Closing Disclosures are correct. May assist with the weekly updating and maintenance of various loan rate sheets and models used in the lending process. Provides support to lending staff by assisting with questions and problem resolution using software and other loan documentation knowledge. May assist HMDA Specialist with verification of information from loan package. May assist the Lending System Administrator with testing, maintenance and implementation of loan origination system updates and releases prior to the enhancements being placed into production for the field. May assist Loan Review Specialist with the post-close review of loan packages to determine if proper loan policy was followed and if there are exceptions present within the loan package.
