Location: Ascension St. Vincent’s East (Trussville)
Department: Behavioral Health - Adult Psych Unit
Schedule: Full Time | Night Shift | 6:45pm-7:15am | 36 hours weekly

Our Adult Psych unit is a 34-bed unit. Patients are typically treated for psychotic disorders, have a long history of mental illness, and have significant barriers to discharge. As a LPN, you will have your own set of patients, complete daily charting and much more. We offer our LPNs an IV Certification at no additional cost to you.
Our average nurse to patient ratio is 6:1 and you are partnered closely to a Behavioral Health Tech. Schedules are made 6 week in advance to allow for a work-life balance.
St. Vincent’s East is licensed for 362 beds and is located just 20 minutes from downtown. It sits between Irondale and Trussville, AL. It is a general medical and surgical facility that offers a variety of programs and services to fit individual, corporate, and community needs. It is the second largest Ascension hospital in the Birmingham area.

What You Will Do:
Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.
- Contribute to the assessment of patients and assure the well-being of patients.
- Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
- Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
