Join Sedaro as an early and critical team member as we develop the world's first digital twin platform for complex systems. Sedaro is hiring Modeling and Simulation Engineers to help achieve our mission of building infinitely scalable system simulation software in the cloud.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience designing and modeling complex models of aerospace systems down to the sub-component level. Candidates should have experience in creating, validating, and optimizing complex simulations. Candidates should possess a deep understanding of aerodynamics, structural mechanics, and control systems, and be proficient in applying computational methods to solve engineering problems. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (both internal and external stakeholders) to design innovative solutions and improve the performance and safety for a variety of systems. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for advancing technology are essential for success in this position.
The Modeling and Simulation Engineer has a thoughtful approach to decision-making; knowing when to move fast and when to be thorough. This position will celebrate autonomy, the ability to give and receive constructive feedback, and a strong ability to meet tight deadlines. They are motivated to own a project from start to finish, and can understand the big picture as well as how it fits within all aspects of the business. This person is experienced with many leading programming languages and frameworks, and is able to write clean and maintainable code.

Key capabilities

  • Architect and implement efficient simulation engines capable of capturing the complex subsystem interdependencies that exist in current hardware
  • Build powerful, highly interoperable yet intuitive solutions that can be used by engineers throughout multiple industries
  • Routinely inspect server code for speed optimization and conceptualize and implement solutions for efficient data storage, access, processing, and visualization
  • Write unit, functional, and integration tests for the services and features you add, as well as find and adopt new ones to further increase maintainability and velocity
  • Document designs, analysis, and test results and generate presentation materials for internal and external customers
  • Participate in design iterations providing engineering feedback for product specs
  • Contribute back to open-source projects

Requirements
  • Familiarity with writing and implementing unit tests
  • Experience in modeling the interactions between dynamic physical systems
  • Ability to learn and implement algorithms and models such as Kalman filters and controllers
  • Demonstrates mastery of modeling a particular physical system/engineering application
  • Experience performing statistical analysis of orbit determination operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or similar
Preferred
  • Master's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 2+ years experience developing models of physical systems/engineering applications as an individual contributor using some of the following:
    • Python
    • Rust
    • MATLAB/Simulink
    • TypeScript/Javascript
  • 2+ years experience developing and validating simulation software for the following applications
    • Space Launch Vehicles
    • Structural Analysis
    • Drone Swarms
    • Software
    • Networks
    • Hypersonic Vehicles
    • Manufacturing
  • Experience modeling and simulating systems using gaming engines such as Unity or Unreal
  • Consume multiple service APIs
  • Experience with analytics, testing, and crash reporting
  • Experience with AI/ML and natural language processing
  • Experience developing cloud-native software
