SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for managing the financial actions of the organization. This will include financial planning, financial reporting, strategic initiatives and collaboration.

Provides assistance and consultation to the President & CEO and staff regarding financial matters as well as supervisory and technical support to finance staff.

Recommends strategic direction and develops the operating strategies for financial management/practices of the organization consistent with strategic planning.

Initiates and implements financial systems responsive to the changing needs of CFS; oversees budgeting and accounting functions of organization.

Provides leadership for the Finance Department.

Participates as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Masters' Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Requires knowledge of an advanced type.

EXPERIENCE

Over six years

Other (Specify): Demonstrated ever-increasing scope and responsibility including leadership of a substantial financial unit/ division involving financial planning, budgeting, and accounting.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Strong leadership and team building skills.

Strong interpersonal, teaching, communication, and computer skills.

Knowledge of fund accounting and current standards for non-profit corporations.

Experience in budgeting, forecasting. and working knowledge of cost accounting

Experience in business plan development and unit costs for lines of business preferred.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.

Requires contacts both inside and outside the organization in order to furnish or obtain information and/or provide participant services. Normal courtesy, tact and discretion required.
