Location: Monroe Township, NJ Shift: 6AM-2PM Pay Rate: $24.58 – $26.21 Job Description Position Overview: Responsible for the transporting of goods from warehouse and distribution centers to customer locations and the picking up of goods from various locations including customers, suppliers and pier. Essential Job Functions: Perform inspections on trucks before and after a trip, unload products from the truck to customer facilities. Follows appropriate safety procedures to transport cargo and maintain logs of vehicle repair status and working hours according to DOT regulations. Assists workers in loading and unloading trucks. Checks mechanical, electrical and operational aspects of the vehicle. Manages proof of delivery paperwork from customers when delivering and picking up of product. Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method. Open bales, crates, and other containers. Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Identify damage, loss, or surplus of goods and materials. Count items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards. May be assigned truck maintenance duties as needed. Complete requisition forms to order supplies for vehicle. Sweep, dust, and clean truck to ensure clean and safe work environment. Organize truck and work area for orderliness at all times. Any duties as assigned. Required Skills/ Qualifications: Valid CDL Driver’s License; maintains compliance with DOT regulations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, fill out forms/docs, correspondence and update paperwork accordingly. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Safety (MSDS) training. Has good communication and customer service skills at all times. Able to work independently. Has a good knowledge of roads, trucks, routes, trucking rules, DOT requirements and CDL. Works well under pressure. Good work ethic. Education/ Experience Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Must have attended a training program from a technical or vocational school in order to learn suitable skills and knowledge to obtain the Commercial Driver ́s License (CDL) in order to drive trucks or other types of vehicles carrying loads with a weight over 26,001 pounds. Minimum of one year CDL driving experience. Required Competencies: Physical/Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving equipment and will be working in non-controlled environmental conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. This position requires the employee to work in an outdoors environment. Conditions include, but are not limited to, hot, humid summer-like conditions and cold/winter conditions. Roads are subject to become wet/slick when raining and or snowing.
