Job Description
- Fire protection engineers apply an understanding of fire science and national codes/standards to assist clients in building development, life safety analysis, and the ITM (installation, testing, & maintenance) of fire protection systems.
- Reviewing fire suppression and fire detection systems plans for compliance with adopted codes.
- Providing wholistic life safety evaluations for new and existing buildings to ensure occupants can exit safely during an emergency.
- Designing fire suppression and fire alarm systems to meet requirements for various occupancies.
- Working with building owners to identify requirements for code compliance.
- Assist in plan/code reviews, develop fire protection designs, prepare evaluation reports, and utilize their knowledge of adopted codes and standards to serve our clients.
- Willingness to travel approx. 25-35% of each month (depending on experience and project type/location). Travel includes professional conferences and events.
- 4-year Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or desire to obtain an EIT certification
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in fire protection
- AutoCAD and Revit experience
- Masters degree in fire protection engineering
- Prior fire protection experience
