Position Summary
The role of Product and Labeling Inspector Lead is critical to ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in Empower's production processes. This position directly supports our core values of people, service, quality, and innovation by meticulously inspecting and labeling products, ensuring compliance with stringent industry and company standards. As a Product and Labeling Inspector Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating the transfer of products from the cleanroom to the inspection, labeling, and packaging areas, as well as to and from the quarantine and retention rooms and refrigerated areas. You will visually inspect products for defects, reject non-conforming units, and label products in strict adherence to master batch records and standard operating procedures. Your role involves operating all associated equipment, performing essential calculations, completing thorough documentation, and inputting data into performance trackers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
You will also serve as the primary training and qualification lead for new hires on inspection, labeling, and packaging processes, mentoring, and supporting newly qualified staff. Additionally, your participation in various LEAN manufacturing tasks will help drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicates with the operations team and coordinates the transfer of products from the cleanroom to the Inspection, Labeling, and packaging area.
  • Coordinates the transfer of products to and from the quarantine and retention room and refrigerated areas.
  • Serves as primary training and qualification lead for new hires on the inspection and labeling process, including associated equipment as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Serves as a secondary departmental point of contact to the Product and Labeling Supervisor.
  • Visually inspects products for defects and rejects non-conforming units per procedure.
  • Inspects, labels, and packages products in compliance with master batch records while adhering to department-specific standard operation procedures.
  • Operates all equipment associated with inspection, labeling, and packaging processes.
  • Performs essential calculations, completes thorough documentation by following good documentation practices, and inputs data into performance trackers.
  • Mentors and supports newly qualified staff on inspection, labeling, and packaging operations.
  • Methodically prepares work area and supplies before operation and maintains a clean and organized workspace throughout the shift.
  • Supports cross functional teams to qualify the equipment's in packaging area through the installation, operational and qualification protocols.
  • Performs ancillary tasks and duties that support the manufacturing process, such as material preparation, label printing, inventory accounting, organization of components, and various LEAN manufacturing tasks (6S, Gemba, Kaizen).
  • Ensures all required hygienic practices are performed per company policy.

Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods for consecutive days. Employees must be able to lift to 30 lbs.

Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous product inspection, labeling, or packaging experience is required.
  • Previous current good manufacturing practice or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Computer knowledge preferred (Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Experience with the operation of visual inspection, labeling and packaging equipment and systems preferred.
