Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the conceptual design, review, and stamping, sealing of the drawings before submission to the clients.Our salary range for this position is from $125k to $130k per annum (range varies depending on experience and qualifications).Key responsibilities: Develop, review, update, modify, and approve electrical design plans and work schedules.Lead construction inspections, quality control, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction managersProvide quality assurance for ongoing projects, and serve as a mentor to fewer experienced engineers in the divisionSupport the Contract management, and Planning divisions with scope, programming, and scheduling definitionDevelops cost estimates and time schedules, Reviews, and analyzes preliminary and final designs, plans, and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacyPerform detailed calculations to establish standards and specificationsPrepares necessary correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets, and status reports and prepares final construction drawings suitable for obtaining qualified bids from ContractorsInspect installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications and safety standardsUse computer-assisted engineering software (AutoCAD, coordination studies load analysis) to perform engineering tasks as assignedKeep current with the latest technical innovations in electrical engineeringAssisting with recruitment, training, and onboarding. Ensuring a safe, positive work environmentPerform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be to be successful in the role:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical EngineeringPrevious experience working on US Government and Military domestic and international projects preferredA licensed Professional Engineer is requiredMaximum 10 years in construction management/design preferrably working on power generation or UPSExceptional verbal and written communication skills; Analytical Thinking; Project Management; Planning and Organizational Skills; Attention to Detail; Excellent Multi-tasking skills and motivational skillsStrong understanding of construction technics and practice; Able to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises; Electrical Layout Design: Electrical Inspection; Cost estimateProficient in Microsoft Office Suites; Engineering software to create project plans and circuit diagrams; Power, Control Switchgear, Lighting, Batteries, Fire Alarm; CAD/RevitFamiliarity with military programming rules and documentation is desirableMust be willing to travel for occasional international assignmentsMust lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)Able to obtain a secret clearanceDue to the nature of work, the successful candidate will be required to comply with all Federal guidelines regarding vaccination for all employees and contractors.
