Responsibilties  Kentucky Medication Aide (KMA) :

  • Administer prescribed medications to patients according to established schedules and protocols.
  • Record medication administration in patient charts, including the date, time, dosage, and route.
  • Observe and report any changes in patients' condition, behavior, or adverse reactions to medications.
  • Prepare medications for administration, including measuring, counting, and organizing doses.
  • Safely store and secure medications to prevent unauthorized access and maintain their integrity.
  • Assist in the ordering and restocking of medications and related supplies.
  • Provide information to patients about their medications, potential side effects, and the importance of compliance with medication regimens.
  • Follow established safety protocols and infection control procedures while handling medications.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and pharmacists, to ensure accurate and effective medication administration.
  • Adhere to all state regulations, facility policies, and guidelines related to medication administration.

Qualifications Kentucky Medication Aide (KMA):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Kentucky Medication Aide KMA certificate from the state of Kentucky
  • 1 year experience in LTC preferred
