JOB SUMMARY
  • This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient service and non-patient related tasks. These tasks include the transport and delivery of food and supplies to satellite locations and the inventorying, ordering and storing of food and supplies. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Process (PIP) at Blessing Hospital.
    The Transporter position is responsible for performing a variety of patient and non-patient related tasks including the following:
    • Push a cart filled with various supplies to stock refrigerators and cabinets with food and nonfood items on the patient units and record stocked items.
    • Enter items on into the catertrax program for billing.
    • Complete stock orders for various units, buildings, and satellite locations which may require walking, driving, or coordinating delivery with another department.
    • Report concerns with coffee makers throughout the health system and coordinate maintenance or deliver new coffee makers as needed.
    • Clean and sanitize refrigerator units on a monthly basis.
    • Deliver supplies and food to various locations for childcare, catering, or general supply needs. This may require walking or driving a delivery van, car, or box truck with a hydraulic lift.
    • Pick up various supplies from local grocers or warehouses as needed.
    • Assist with putting away food and supply deliveries which may require using a pallet jack.
    • Assist with cleaning off dishes, loading the dish machine, or putting away dishes during downtime.
    • Assist with filling ice machine.
    • Assist with filling stock items in coolers on tray line and putting items on the trays during downtime.
    • Schedule maintenance for hospital owned vehicles and fill them with gas as needed.
  • The Transporter will be required to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, push, and lift with items of various weights from 5 to 50 pounds for the majority of an 8 hour shift. Some items may requiring bending, squatting, or lifting them overhead.This position requires the Transporter to walk on hard surfaces that may be wet and may include uneven surfaces.
    To be successful, the Transporter is required to use customer service skills, phone etiquette, and organizational skills. The Transporter must be able to utilize multiple technical devices including iPads, iPhones, computers, and other technology devices. The Transporter must be able to work unsupervised in a fast paced work environment.
    This position requires the Transporter to be 18 years or older.
