Position Summary:
This position under the mentorship of the Continuous Improvement (CI) Team will assist with essential projects related to process improvements in safety, quality, delivery, process efficiency, and the flow of information/materials while gaining invaluable experience for their future career. This position will require a passion for continuous improvement, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work as a cross-functional team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the site CI Team to analyze and evaluate current state work methods, procedures, controls, and documentation systems within manufacturing and business processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement/lean activities such as: 5S, A3 problem solving, value stream mapping, hoshin planning, and kaizen events.
  • Support the CI team in developing, planning, and delivering training and coaching of CI principles, concepts, behaviors, and tools.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data related to business processes and procedures to evaluate current state.
  • Complete time studies to identify opportunities to eliminate process waste.
  • Review and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Document, create, evaluate, and maintain procedures and standard work instructions.
  • Understand how continuous improvement supports the business and drives performance through process improvement.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  • Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Actively pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering field
  • Proficient skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint
  • Basic time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication, including interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with good organization and planning skills
  • Experience with problem solving and lean methodology are a plus.
Functional & Cognitive Requirements of Position:
  • This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.
  • Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
  • This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
