General Summary Employees in this classification will be responsible for customer service and general operations of Jean Klock Park. Candidates must be willing to work weekends and/or holidays. This is a seasonal position, with employment from May 1 through Oct. 30.

Essential Job Functions May be called upon to greet and interact with patrons, work well with colleagues, and enforce facility policies, rules and regulations as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must have a valid driver’s license. Other desired qualities: ability to work independently, and with people of all backgrounds; friendly and helpful attitude; general knowledge of park rules; strong communication skills.

Election Administrators (City Clerk's Office) General Summary Assists in maintaining accurate city files and public records, and administering city-wide elections. Transcribes minutes and performs other secretarial and clerical duties as directed. Performs aspects of elections, including voter registration, publications, mailings, absentee ballots, and election setup.

Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent, with additional vocational training in typing, word processing and office techniques (40-60 wpm). Experience with Google Workspace and two years as an office assistant or secretary, preferably in a municipal setting, with a background in QVF (Qualified Voter File).

License/Certifications: Successful completion of the Elections Officials’ Accreditation Program preferred. Established as a notary or have ability to become a notary preferred.

Community Development Block Grant Manager (Community/Economic Development)

General Summary Under general supervision, coordinates federally-funded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program activities and other related federal, state, and local programs. Writing of grants, sub agreements, special reports, work with various computer applications, in coordination with various City departments, and/or City-assisted agencies.

Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Service, Business Administration or a minimum of two years' work experience in Community Development, is preferred. Two or more years of professional-level government finance and grant accounting experience is preferred. Experience with federal grants (i.e. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)/Section 8/HUD HOME Investment) is highly desired.

Waterfront Revitalization Manager/ Community Engagement Outreach Specialist (Community/Economic Development) General Summary Works under the general direction of the City Manager's office and Economic Development Director.

Responsible for managing various waterfront restoration and revitalization projects within the City as assigned, including but not limited to coordinating infrastructure, community development, and public works.

Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in project management, urban planning, public administration, environmental science or related field and a minimum of three years of experience in project management and community engagement/outreach, preferably in a municipal setting.

Knowledge of the City of Benton Harbor, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software. Must be able to work nights and weekends for meetings and special events.

Finance Director/Treasurer General Summary Works under the City Manager, City Commission, and management team. Plans and directs all City financial accounting and treasury functions. Ensures accurate accounting of all funds, monitoring ongoing expenses, collecting taxes, administration of payroll, and helping to prepare the annual budget.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration or related field, or equivalent.

Five years in professional accounting or financial management in a municipal setting; comprehensive knowledge of municipal accounting, finance and investing practices; ability to communicate effectively and present ideas, orally and in writing; ability to supervise and oversee others

Public Safety/Code Compliance Public Safety Officer Responsible for protecting life and property, to detect and prevent crime, and maintain public safety and order by enforcing local, state and federal laws. The Police Officer may be required to use lethal and deadly force in certain situations.

Education/Experience High School diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred, and a valid driver's license.

Must successfully complete all standards required by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). MCOLES certification is a condition of continued employment in this classification

Be free from any physical defects or chronic diseases which may impair performance, or endanger others' livers.

Possess normal color vision without the assistance of color enhancing lenses, 20/20 corrected vision in each eye, and possess normal visual functions in each eye.
