Role:

The HVAC/Skilled Maintenance Laborer is responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioners, and other indoor air quality systems on the PBPN reservation. Additionally, this role includes conducting emergency repairs and testing, providing HVAC services, and assisting with various building maintenance tasks as required.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Valid Kansas driver's license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.

Experience: Two years of experience as an HVAC Technician, apprentice, or a related on-the-job training program or experience may be substituted with a completed HVAC degree/certification.

Education: High School Diploma/GED. Must be willing to acquire HVAC universal card and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license within one year of hire.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essentials elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the PBPN for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Knowledge :

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Skills:

  • Operations Monitoring: Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Troubleshooting: Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Installation: Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Reading Comprehension: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

Abilities:

  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
