Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for our Interventional Radiology Department in Charlottesville, VA! Full Time, Day shift. There is a 30 minute response time required for call purposes.
Up to 15K Sign on bonus for qualified candidates!
Interventional Radiology: Interventional radiology employs image-guided techniques to perform minimally invasive procedures for diagnosis and treatment. Interventional radiology is often used to place central venous catheters and subcutaneous ports. We serve a broad range of patient conditions and provide services for neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, nephrology, and surgical patients. The VIR department sees about 20-25 cases a day. This is a strong team of 15 including Registered nurses and Cardiovascular Invasive Techs and EP Specialists. Procedures usually have a two Nurse to 1 patient ratio or 1:1 for Mid and PICC less invasive procedures.
The IR department operating hours are from 730A to 4p Monday to Friday with 5 eight-hour shift schedule. The call schedule requirement is every 5th weekend and one day during the week. This position requires on-call with a 30-minute response time.
Requirements
  • Education: graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Required: RN License
  • Preferred: Prior sedation experience.
  • Required: BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred: ACLS prior to hire- required within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Procedural experience.
  • Preferred: strong background in cardiac areas.

Job Summary
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
BSN or MSN preferred. New Hire Education Requirement: All new RNs who do not have their BSN will be required to sign a BSN Agreement committing to enrollment in an accredited RN to BSN program within 24 months of hire and successfully obtaining their BSN within 5 years of hire. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
