Description PeaceHealth has an opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join on our Gastroenterology team at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington. Primary worksite is Bellingham, Washington, but travel to secondary PeaceHealth worksites in Sedro-Woolley, Washington and Friday Harbor, Washington may be required. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting. Job Summary Nurse Practitioner: Within scope of practice and in alignment with both hospital staff bylaws and PHMGs physician supervision expectations, responsible for advanced level of nursing evaluation, clinical assessment, prescribing and monitoring medications and follow-up care for patient. Responsible for patient and family teaching. Physician Assistant: Under the direct supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant is responsible for caring for, treating and triaging appropriately, patient's medical, physical and psychosocial needs. Job Summary Essential Functions Within scope of practice, perform comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams and interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures to assist in formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan. Order, collect and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures and studies. Provide needed procedures, including assisting in surgery and continually assess patient’s needs and conduct appropriate follow up. Performing procedures, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice. Order, prescribe and dispense medication and durable goods as allowed by state and within scope of practice. Maintain required records and writes progress notes on patient charts as to status, treatments and procedures. Counsel the patient as to preventative care, medical problems, exercise, and the use of prescribed medications and treatments. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required: Must fulfill educational requirements to obtain ARNP or PA Credentials Required : Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Board Certification Required: ARNP or PA license in Washington state, or ability to obtain during credentialing process. Required : Drug Enforcement Admin and Required : Drivers License with proof of auto insurance and Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support and Preferred : Advanced Cardiac Life Support Skills Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
