This position is located in Menlo Park, CA.

Horticulturists are responsible for garden maintenance of native and landscapes to perform: natural pruning, habitat management and invasive species control, light repair of irrigation systems, monitor wildlife, pest and diseases and interacting with the public in the gardens. We are looking for somebody who enjoys all aspects of organic horticulture, native landscapes strategically hands-on in a gardening position. Ideal candidate will have experience in CA native gardening, regional ecologies and sustainable gardening practices. Effective communication with clients and team members is required.

*Skills & experience that are necessary as a Horticulturists will include, but not limited to:

• Experience and knowledge with care and needs of CA native plants, work experience with organic gardening methods and native gardens
• Ability to talk about plants to general public, use hand tools, such as pruning shears, load and operate a blower 10 pounds for long periods of time, use a hand rake for long periods of time, operate of a motor vehicle, must have CA Driver’s license
• Associates degree or higher in Horticulture related field and/or Bay Friendly Certified Professional is preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus, able to work eight hours or more per day, with breaks necessary, for 5 days a week (it may require working overtime & on the weekends), able to work under direct sunlight for long periods of time, able to carry 40 pounds (bags of fertilizer, mulch, etc.), able to load / unload a trailer full of burlaps up to 50 pounds, able to bend, stoop and twist throughout the day

SALARY RANGE:

• $77,00 - $86,000 per year (s pecific compensation may vary based on overall skills, experience and location)
