Russell Tobin has partnered with an industry leader in chemical manufacturing to add to their leadership team! Reserved for the most skilled and knowledgeable individuals, this advanced-level position operates with autonomy and is integral to the engineering department's leadership team, extending its influence across all facets of company operations.

This role is based in the Saint Paul, MN area and a relocation package is available.

Essential Functions: Serve as a subject matter expert in engineering design. Coordinate the development of FEED and Detailed Engineering design deliverables. Conduct design calculations to size or optimize facilities equipment. Implement calculation methodologies and process engineering practices across all facilities. Mentor engineers and foster engineering competency across all facilities. Establish and uphold Engineering standards across manufacturing facilities. Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, performance standards, and specifications. Troubleshoot plant operations and optimize existing facilities. Lead process improvements across facilities. Act as a subject matter expert in capital project management. Manage project deliverables to meet schedule, cost, and benefit targets. Estimate project costs for capital budgets and obtain funding approval. Audit project performance and provide recommendations for improvement. Develop project scopes and detailed designs. Provide project status updates to senior management. Manage third-party Engineering companies assisting in project engineering, procurement, construction, and management. Support construction activities and supervise contractors. Lead commissioning and startup of new installations. Mentor and guide Engineers in capital project management.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Advanced Technical degree preferred. 15+ years of relevant experience. 5+ years of leading engineering teams. Willingness to provide hands-on engineering support at

manufacturing/distribution

facilities. Proficiency in process engineering calculations and design determinations, covering thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and other pertinent chemical process operations. Proven track record in leading OSHA Process Safety Management efforts related to capital projects. Ability to develop and track project plans and schedules, preferably with MS Project experience. Experience in preparing bid requests and administering design and construction contracts. Demonstrated proficiency in accurately estimating and tracking project costs. Proficient in AutoCAD software for P&ID development and project scope documentation. Capability to lead remote project teams. Willingness to travel 30%-50% to company locations for scope definition, design development, and project implementation. Flexibility to adjust work hours and days to meet critical project deadlines.
