REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High school or equivalent. Must be able to successfully complete the following training requirements: Automated hearing screening, Infection control, universal precautions, and CPR. 60 hrs of college credit preferred, health-care experience preferred
Good computer skills, including data entry; basic verbal skills; good interpersonal skills; able to use automated optoacoustic emissiom and auditory brainstem response screening equipment.
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment. Assists junior staff as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Prepares equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks

Performs automated hearing screenings.

Obtains, imports, and/or enters patient demographic information into screening equipment/database.

Downloads screening results from hearing screening device into database.

Charts screening results in electronic medical records

Arranges and coordinates follow-up for outpatient screening appointments

Participates in preparation of the monthly screener schedules

Prepares screening result letters; provides written and verbal results to parents/caregivers

Performs daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment.

Maintains patient’s privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.

Stays abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility.

Performs related duties as required.
