Vaco Financial is assisting our Memphis based client in their search for a Corporate Controller.

SUMMARY

The VP & Corporate Controller oversees and manages the fiscal functions of the organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) while providing financial information about company activities that will assist senior leadership and its shareholders in making economic decisions about the company’s future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates the organization’s fiscal function;

Provides accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets;

Serves on executive committee, collaborates in strategic planning efforts, and provides leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans;

Gathers, interprets, and prepares data, and provides recommendations and reports for executive committee review;

Maintains corporate income tax compliance by providing accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns and taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes;

Oversees the activities of the Accounting Department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable and accounts payable including billings, cash control, employee expense reports, and customer relationship management;

Leads the budget planning process, and provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets and financial reports that will assist the President and CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership in managing their responsibilities;

Provides continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets;

Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization: i.e., evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, and/or mergers and pension funds, and investments;

Effectively manages performance of direct reports through consistent evaluation and feedback, while ensuring that individual performance objectives are managed and measured to encourage professional growth;

Works to optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiates needed strategies for improvement;

Develops financial reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with company expenditure requirements and meet customer needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises of entire accounting department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of five years of related work experience

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Masters preferred

Certified Public Accountant

Public accounting experience preferred

Advanced in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Advanced knowledge of and ability to use job-specific software/hardware/programs.
