Health Fitness Assistant
25 - 29 hours per week
Assist in the areas of health education, aquatics, recreation, fitness testing and class instruction. Provide support for class implementation, special projects, health and fitness consultations, and recreational activities.
Position Summary:
• Administers fitness evaluations and health assessments.
• Provides fitness, health, and nutritional consultations.
• Implements health education programs.
• Assists in the development of special programs in all areas.
• Instructs fitness and aquatic classes.
• Must follow all safe work practices, escalate unsafe conditions, and report incidents.
• Assist in special events like Kids Camp, holiday parties, etc.
• Maintain accurate records of fitness assessments, class attendance, and client progress.
• Schedule classes and programs and manage participation rosters.
• Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of fitness and aquatics equipment.
Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, health education, nutrition or physical education required.
  • Minimum two years of related work experience required.
  • Teaching experience in health education, fitness and/or aquatics required.
  • Experience in fitness testing and exercise prescription preferred.
  • Friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Responsible and dependable.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with program participants, providing encouragement, support, and assistance to meet individual needs.
  • Excellent group communication skills. Must be able to deliver group presentations and direct class activities.
  • Always presents oneself in a professional manner.
  • Creative, resourceful, and able to generate new program ideas.
  • Organized and self-directed.
  • Enthusiastic and motivational to others.
  • Proficient in the use of fitness software, applications, and Microsoft Suite.
