Summary:

The PC Technician role spans various areas of responsibility. However, the primary focus is front-line help-desk support and serving customers. The PC Technician assists in diagnoses of technical problems with hardware, software, login issues, email, mobile devices, and other end-user technology factors. As well the PC Technician provides general maintenance and enhancement services that protect City assets and provide fluidity and continuity of operations. This position works under close to general supervision.

Work Hours:

This position will be expected to work a schedule necessary to accomplish City and departmental goals, including nights, weekends and /or holidays as required.

Essential Duties:

Respond in person to requests made via the Help Desk system and telephone

Provide remote support via telephone, email, and remote desktop.

Identify and report on security related anomalies.

Prepare and deploy computers, peripherals and other technology equipment.

Manage mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets in addition to any desktops or laptops for service and troubleshooting.

Attend and actively participate in IT staff meetings, providing suggestions, feedback and updates about ongoing IT operations.

Assist with inventory of hardware and software.

Maintain organization and storage of materials and supplies.

Communicate work activity, completed tasks and performance data to the Director in monthly reports.

Education / Experience:

High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree in computer Science or other closely related field preferred; two (2) years of demonstrated experience.

Certifications / Licenses:

Must Possess and maintain a valid State of West Virginia Driver's License; A+ Certification or equivalent.
