If you are looking to jump start your career in child care, join Lakeville Area Schools as a Kid Zone Special Education Paraprofessional for our before and after school programs! An ESS special education paraprofessional, under supervision of an ESS Instructor and Special Education Lead, provides direct and indirect support to students with special needs. Childcare experience is preferred, and we are looking for individuals with strong communication and organizational skills.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist instructors with extracurricular activities, such as physical recreation/sports and art and crafts
  • Provide prep and clean up of projects, snacks and activities
  • Promote a positive learning environment and advocates for student needs.
  • Support development of individual communication, social and functional skills.
  • Communicate any issues to the instructor/supervisor
  • Assist students with mobility which may include toileting/changing diapers, lifting and transferring students, helping with dressing, assisting students with adaptive equipment.
Pay and schedule:
  • $17.84 - $24.22 per hour depending on experience
  • Before and after school shifts ranging from 2 to 6 hours per day
  • Participate in field trips on non-school days

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required
  • Prefer candidates with AA degree and/or additional training or work experience relevant to children or adolescents
  • Para pro test NOT required
  • Applicants should have strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
